Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a serious problem generally diagnosed in children; however, this mental illness affects also adolescents and even some adults. ADHD is a neurobiological condition that disrupts the processing of information in the brain and as a result causes many symptoms such as hyperactivity, constant restlessness, attention problems, impulsiveness and difficulty concentrating, these symptoms are generally common in children, but they seem to be more severe and last more than usual in children with ADHD.

Researches estimates that ADHD occurs in children with a percentage of 3% to 5%. It affects 1 in 20 school children under the age of 10 with a percentage of 8%.
ADHD affects the ability of the child to function properly both at home in school, and should be treated as soon as possible to prevent the complication of this mental disorder.

There is a misconception that ADHD is generally caused by poor upbringing or bad childhood. But what should be mentioned is that ADHD is a medical condition in which the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) such as dopamine, serotonin, and nor epinephrine are out of balance. This illness requires treatment and care that could take too much time and effort especially from the parents.

Adults with ADHD usually experience different symptoms and complications including poor organizational skills, bad time management, career development, relationships problems, low self esteem and substance abuse or addictions.
