What are the symptoms of anxiety??


the symptoms of the anxiety disorders may vary from one to another depending to the person and the intensity of the situation he is in. The levels of the anxiety might be intense especially if there is a co-exist illness such as diabetes or a heart disease... and in some cases they are slight. The symptoms may be physical or psychological so let's take a look at each one of these symptoms:
  • Shortness of breath : the person has difficulty in breathing and he or she feels like the air is not sufficient and sometimes the patient may feel suffocated and not getting enough air.
  • Sleeping disorders : this is a common symptom of anxiety, the patient has a lot of difficulties to fall asleep and his muscles remain tense during his sleep or he may even have a panic attack, anxiety may develop so much more sleeping disorders depending to the person.
  • Dizziness : the person confronts problems in maintaining balance, this lightheaded feeling lead the patient to experience difficulties in both standing and sitting. The dizziness caused by anxiety is not related to head problems or brain tumors and the person doesn't need to worry, however, talking to a doctor about some tests to do would be very helpful to make sure it is just anxiety.
  • Feeling of panic and fear : normal people may feel scared when facing a dangerous situation, however, people with anxiety may feel afraid for no obvious reason.
  • Palpitations and heart racing : the person may feel irregular heartbeats or a racing heart, this heart pounding makes the person feel like he is having a heart attack or he is dying.
  • Shaking or trembling : the person is unable to stay calm and he may feel shaky and very nervous.
  • Chest pains : the patient may experience a terrible pain in the chest and feel like he is having a heart attack.
  • Diarrhea or constipation : the sufferer may experience some stomach disorders related to anxiety like diarrhea or constipation or suffer from abdominal pains.
  • Sweaty hands or feet : the person may have sweaty hands or feet during anxiety even in a cold weather and without an obvious reason.
  • Nausea and vomiting: the patient may suffer from nausea or vomiting due to anxiety.
  • Swallowing difficulties : people with anxiety usually suffer from this symptom, they feel like the food is stuck in their throat and swallowing becomes very hard.
  • Obsessive thoughts : the patient may suffer from obsessive thoughts which are in general very bad and related to the person such as thoughts of harmful situations; horrible scenes...these thoughts are uncontrollable and exhaust the person.
  • Flashbacks of a traumatic event : the person may experience repeated thoughts or flashbacks of a terrifying experience that occurred in the past of the sufferer.
  • Repeated actions (compulsions) : this symptom is related to the obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), the patient repeat an act over and over for no obvious reason.
  • Muscle tension: people with anxiety may experience the feeling of muscle tension which leads sometimes to muscle pains.
  • Dry mouth : due to anxiety and tension the body needs more water so the sufferer may experience this symptom and need to drink more to avoid dehydration.
  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet : people with anxiety may feel like their hands or feet tingles or numb.
